Message manifolds dont even come close to being called "copies" of the MS manifolds. My die grinder and compressor would fall over dead at that sight.... :-/

p.s., make sure you seal the compressor housing to the backplate with either RTV or machine an oring seat into the backplate.. The Garrett T04B housing and backplate do not incorporate a seal of any kind and shortly down the road it will result in leakage requiring an engine pull to correct....

* please see the post I made about this about 2 years ago *

As for the primary complaint you have with the fitment, please understand what turbocharger housing "clocking" is all about. In the process of installing turbos, the orientation of the turbocharger's housings as they arrive to you means absolutely nothing. It is the technician's responsitility to ensure that not only the housings are properly oriented, but also that both turbochargers are leak free as well as having balanced wastegate actuator cracking pressure. Anyone thinking these items are just a simple "bolt-on" affair should seriously consider the simple fact that they just had to pull the whole freaking engine to install these parts and that absolutely no step in their work can rely on a "should'a could'a would'a excuse when things go amuck... And the final nail in the coffin is the simple fact that not all exhaust manifolds are built the same - adjusting the turbocharger housing orientation is not only an absolutely required step in the installation proces, but it is just as much a part of the process as , say, changing the settings on an adjustable shock absorber system to produce the results you desirie.

The clearance issue you are reporting is a not a fluke or problem. If the housings dont line up exactly as needed, it is the responsibiliyt of the installer to make the appropriate adjsutments - this is just as much a part of the skill set required to be (IMHO) qualified to work on these cars as the requirement for a lawyer to actually have a degree in law. Even if the orientation of the housings looks "pretty good", a seasoned technician wont even see it that way - he will immediately loosen up the housing and cartridge bolts before installing the turbos onto the engine; he realizes the orientation of the housings when they arrive mean absolutely nothing and even once they have been properly clocked, he/she also recognizes the need for the wastegate actuators to be precisely calibrated....
